Using reclaimed textiles and jewelry as her primary art media, Sadie Rose creates clothing and accessories that are part gypsy, part space cowgirl, and part Mata Hari. Megan Nielsen: Hi there! My name is Megan Nielsen, but you can call me Meg. I’m an Aussie designer living in the USA and I love creating sweet, feminine clothing full of pretty details. My designs are a reflection of my nostalgic heart and love of nature. As a child I used to love playing dress up in my mother's wardrobe, and to this day not only do I still get inspired by the sweet 70's styles that filled her closet, but I get inspired by the feeling I got when I looked in the mirror. I felt simply beautiful. And that's how I want my clothing to make people feel. I'm a firm believer that pretty is the new pretty. {See more of Megan here: Facebook | Twitter | Blog }

My 23rd birthday is on Saturday and I can't wait to have a few days to relax and enjoy some time off. Looking back and reflecting on my 22nd year, I'm realizing how it's been packed full of so many accomplishments and dreams come true!
This week has been crazy! I've been running errands, ordering this, printing that, working and gathering, business meetings, interviews, the list goes on... phew! Summer Skin

Guess What?! It's almost summer!!! This week I completely cleaned out my closet and made the transition from winter coats and plaids to lightweight summer sundresses, sandals and sweaters.
It's been a fun change from cold to warmer weather in Portland and I can't wait to spend more time in the sun. As you head out into the sun, make sure to bring along your sunhats and sunscreen to protect your pretty skin!
WHAT I WORE: Maxi Dress - Zac Posen for Target, Saltwater Sandals, Oversized sun hat, Chanel blackout sunnies.

Beach Bombshell Makeup DIY

It's time for a new summer look, and no time like the present to stock up on the latest and greatest makeup products of the season. With most of us on the go all summer long, our makeup needs to be compact, simple to apply, and neutral with a dash of drama for day to night looks. Here's one gorgeous makeup look that will have the boys doing double takes!
Instead of covering every single imperfection in your skin with a heavy foundation, switch to a light tinted moisturizer, and apply all over the face. Lip stain will save your life with only one or two applications each day to the lips and cheeks. A luminescent lotion can be used on the bridge of the nose, chin and temples for a healthy sun-kissed glow. A simple two color eye lid with a neutral highlighter for under your brows and a sexy bronze shimmer for a subtle smokey eye, using full puffy brushes (perfect for blending). Add some brown or bronze eyeliner along the top lash line and bottom corners, curl your lashes and add mascara - You've got the perfect face for day or night, and everything in between
Products I Used:
-Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer : Let your skin breathe and your freckles show.
-Benefit Pocket-Pal Duo Stain Kit : A dual sided lip stain/lip gloss, perfect for cheeks and lips!
-MAC Eye Shadow in SHROOM(satin) and SABLE(frost) : Subtle and sexy color duo, play time!
-Chanel Brush #'s 12 and 3: Fluffy brushes for flawless application!!
-Covergirl LashBlastLength : The perfect, affordable mascara with longest lash results.
-Covergirl Perfect Lashes Eyelash Curler : A MUST.
-Almay Brown/Bronze Eyeliner Pencil : Easy application and the perfect metallic hue!

Today I went to the Stumptown at Ace Hotel and had the most delicious soy latte. The Ace Hotel is a swanky spot in SW Portland that has such a unique vibe. I really like that area of the city and plan on spending more time there as the weather warms up. It's my home office away from home so-to-speak. Look at this place, do you blame me?
Below is music that's been on repeat in my studio. It's fun and upbeat and keeps me motivated - enjoy!

In The Studio : An Outfit Post

I was resistant to wear a Canadian Tuxedo (aka Denim on denim) for the longest time but lately I've fallen victim to the trend and I l-o-v-e it! There's such an old world utilitarian vibe with an effortless ease that makes it irresistible. If you find yourself looking for a new trend to follow, I'd suggest picking up some tops and accessories and pairing them with your pants, skirts and other pieces. Layer, layer, layer! WHAT I WORE: Levi's Men's button up, GAP raw dark denim jeans, gold men's watch, Ericka Weiner press stamp ring, Vintage black Justin Roper Boots

In The Studio

This week on le blog is all about what's going on in my studio. For the past month, I've been getting all my ducks in a row and am making some good progress. As many of you know, this is a brand new adventure for me and I'm thrilled to be sharing another glimpse at my space and what I wear while working. Only 6 weeks remain before the launch of my summer collection. I can't wait!

Northwest Terrarium DIY

I built my own terrarium this week. Originally I went to go buy a terrarium but the cute terrarium shop down the street was closed so I was forced to make my own for the studio. After getting my hands dirty and putting together a little plant world of my own, I realized it's way more worth it to make one by hand, rather than purchasing one. Take 10 minutes and do the same.. here's how:
{NOTE: There are many different kinds of terrariums you can create, each with it's own specific climate. I chose a northwest themed terrarium: for low light/shade and light watering needs.}
1) Bedding:
Terrariums need a bed that will collect and reserve water inside the container without causing water build up and rotting roots. You can use charcoal, rocks, moss and sand for this.
2) Soil:
A fresh, healthy topsoil will be best to plant your plants into. Make sure that the soil is packed firmly on top of your bedding choice. Soil will settle with time and you want your plants to be secured.
3) Plants:
Choose a variety of plants to fill your terrarium. Many different styles of plants placed tightly together look very unique and intriguing. Make sure your plants vary in height and color as well.
4) Accessorize:
Using crystals, stones, sticks, statues or figurines is a great way to polish off your terrarium. It adds individuality and expression to your space.
The end result was, without question my favorite terrarium and I was able to use a large vase that never gets too much use. Make one for your desk at work, your studio, your living room or even the bathroom.
