Dear Chloe Sevigny,
I have to apologize. Until this last week, I found you slightly frightening and far too bold. However, after laying in my sick bed and watching 3 straight seasons of Big Love the last week, my perception of you has changed completely.
Miss Sevigny is a powerhouse of the acting community as well as a leading trendsetter in the fashion world. I've found new inspiration, thanks to her. Cheers Chloe, to having guts!Happy Friday. Here's to all you little sickos like me getting well over the weekend, and that's an order!!

Renegade Update: November 4

It's Renegade Update time! I must admit, this is mostly a list to keep me on top of things but I figured it would be fun to share the excitement. Since Seablanket is not my only source of income and I have a full time job, I have to make little checklists to keep myself motivated and on track. Below is my list to-date, which I am sure will change as things draw nearer, but for now, it works. Renegade Holiday Craft Fair is only 6 short weeks away, I'm SO excited!

A Fresh Fall Face DIY

It's time for A Fresh Fall Face! Inspired by looks from the Fall 2010 catwalks, take a look at the beautiful new trends:{1. Chloe 2. Alexander Wang 3. Thykoon}

Here's how to get the look yourself! Beginning with a fresh face....

Face: Apply a light layer of MAC's Select SPF 15 Foundation to even out skin tones. If you have dark under eye circles or blemishes, cover with a lightweight concealer like Almay's Smart Shade concealer. It's a new product I've found recently and I love it! The application is simple, just use your finger to dab concealer onto skin and watch as it adjusts it's color to match yours. Lastly, apply a eyelid primer to your lids, under the brow and near the tear ducts. Let dry.

Cheeks: I found an amazing highlighter called That Gal by BeneFit that is the perfect addition to add to your nose and cheekbones. It gives a natural beaming glow to areas its applied to, it's my favorite new product of them all. Next, apply a liquid or creme blush like MAC's BlushCreme in a soft orange hue. The BlushCreme can be applied using your fingers or a brush. MAC's #109 Full Face brush is an amazing application tool that allows blush to appear as a natural flush. It gives you full control over color and blend. Apply onto apples and cheekbones.

Eyes: Shaping your eyebrows is an ideal way to define and enhance your eyes. The BeneFit Brow Zings Shaping kit is perfect and comes with everything you'd need. Eyebrow wax can be applied with an angle brush (included in kit) to shape brows while the powder and rounded brush lock in shape and fills in color. Tweezers are optional to handle any little strays. Next, apply a neutral beige eyeshadow all over eyelid. A darker brown can be used in the crease of your eyes, softly, no dark smudges!! Finally, a highlight color in an orange tone can be used on the lower lid and blend into crease. Use this highlight color to tie the bottom lash line into the rest of the eyes. I used MAC's Bamboo, Romp and Rust shadows. Finally, add a layer of curling and separating mascara like CoverGirl's Lash Blast Fusion Mascara.

To Finish: Apply a light layer of lip moisturizer or lipstick in a peach color. Oranges are the next big thing in lipcolor, so hop on this bus now instead of later. It's important to search out a shade that compliments your skin tone. End with a light dusting of powder to set the look. I'd recommend MAC Studio Fix Transparent Powder.
It's a beautiful, clean Autumn look and I'm in love with all my new products. I'd suggest each one. If you're looking for more drama, I'd suggest using a brown eyeliner on the top lash line as well as a brighter toned lip stick. Maybe one with a brown/orange hue.

Tea + Crumpet Tote DIY

Today I was sent home from work, I'm feeling a little too sick to function. Munchie had a dental yesterday so she is also not feeling the best, so I decided that she and I would make some tea.... and this tutorial was born.This tutorial was inspired by some vintage hand - dyed fabric I found a few months back and have since turned into multiple hair accessories. I really love the idea of using the dye process to transform boring items. I must say this was a total experiment since I've never worked with tea dying before and the result was a subtle but sweet version of what I was going for.

Materials Needed:
Natural Canvas Tote
Black Tea Bags - any generic brand works great
Medium Sized Bowl
Ice Cubes

Follow these simple steps and you'll have a tea dip-dyed tote of your own:

Begin by filling your bowl with hot water. Add tea bags and steep until you've reached your desired color saturation. Use tea bags which steep to fun colors if desired for a red, purple or yellow hue. Once you've reached the desired color saturation, remove tea bags. Roll your tote up long ways and submerge into the water. I show the submerged half-way because I wanted to A) show the difference between the original product and the dyed product as well as B) I wanted to see what it would look like half - dyed. I let my tote soak for about :30 minutes then I removed it from the bowl, rung it out and let it drip dry in the sun. The result is a lovely muted re-usable bag. I'm going to use mine as a grocery bag for trips to the local farmers markets, etc.
If I were to do this again, I would have used more than 4 tea bags to achieve a more dramatic color, but I am happy with the final result as is. Hope you enjoy this late, but better than never DIY. xxoo Chelsea

Manic Monday: Hello November!

November is such a beautiful month (possibly my most favorite). Each year, I long for the cool weather of November so I can pull out my favorite cold weather clothing pieces. This outfit is made up of clothing I've had for years that I simply love. Paired with a few new accessories, these old favorites take on a new light. It's a true testament to how taking good care of your clothing can make any price tag worth it.That old thing? (aka What I Wore):
