{tutorial tuesday: diy daisy chains}

i keep telling myself that it's the little things that make the big differences. i've been pulling back from trying to outdo every little thing, and be comfortable in the meek and playful things. this week's d.i.y is a multi-colored daisy chain. any flowers can be used, from flower markets or fields or your own gardens. perfect for parties, or photo-ops... or just to brighten your day.
supplies needed for your own daisy chains: assorted flowers, of all colors and sizes (mine are a variety of zinnias from my garden). scissors for clipping off the leaves. sharp knife. elastic lace or twine.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
directions: begin by removing all the leaves from each flower stem. laying out your flowers in the order you'd like them chained together, mix and match colors and sizes if you aren't using plain old daises. make a small 1/2 - 1" slit down the center of each flower stem; be careful to not cut on the side, or chain will loose strength. begin chain by sliding one flower stem into the slit of another. repeat until chain reaches the diameter of one's head/crown size. to connect your chain ends, add one more flower through a slit in both ends, and push stem to one side. begin wrapping your elastic lace or twine around the ends of each stem, securing them to one another and reinforcing the blossom crown. easy as that!
every girl i know loves wearing flowers in her hair, why not celebrate with a crown of blossoms?!
each one will be unique and lovely, just as the woman wearing it. it's too cute to pass up, and quite perfect for any afternoon agenda!
