Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday on a Wednesday. This is part one of a two part tutorial, featuring recycled materials and sewing to make a handmade summer quilt. Gather your old clothes and some scissors and lets begin!!
Supplies Needed (for Part 1) :

Old clothes/recycled fabrics/scrap fabric
Scissors
Sewing Machine
Measuring Tape
Step 1.

Lay out your clothes as flat as possible and cut along the seams of one side. If you have a shirt for instance, you'll want to cut along the side, sleeve and shoulder until your fabric now lays flat and large. Skirts or pants are much easier to cut open on one side and lay flat.
Step 2.

Cut as many 4" squares as possible from each item of clothing you have. Save pockets and collars for later as they may be useful for later crafts.
Step 3.

Pin 4 squares together and sew along the sides that are touching. Repeat with another 4 squares.
Step 4.

Once you have your two sets of 4-squares, lay them side by side and sew the two panels together. Now you're on you way!!
In a week or so I will show you the final half this Tutorial, and my end result. I will also be selling the completed quilt on my
etsy, for a special cause!
