dress up days
As I child, I was always dressing up in obscene outfits and romping around in public places. Below are just a few of the dazzling ensembles i donned for Halloweens in the past, I know you'll enjoy! Side note: I have no idea why I've always got a mustache drawn on my face, or why I looked like a boy....

Ah...I sure was an awkward (UGLY) child. That mummy outfit is my favorite! What was your favorite Halloween costume as a child?

wildcard wednesday : a portland adventure
My trip to Portland over the weekend was an absolute joy! I do love visiting, but don't think I'll be able to for quite a while, so I tried to make this trip count. Below are some photos I took while in the Bridgetown:

The overall weekend was rainy and typical of a Portland Fall and I loved it. Seems like my second home! Are any of you from Portland or do you ever visit? What are your favorite things to do while there?

Lace Ears DIY
I'm super excited to share this DIY with everybody! Inspired by the beautiful Mary Kate + Ashley Olsen, today I'll show you how to create lace ears. Perfect for Halloween costumes or for play, these are so simple and will be stand out pieces at any costume party! Follow the few simple steps below to make your own!
Materials Needed:
Black Lace, Headband, Thin- malleable wire, Scissors, Hot Glue Gun
Lace Ears:
Cut out 4 pieces of rectangle lace, measuring about 9x5" each. Set aside. Next, form ear-shaped outlines with your malleable wire and twist the ends so they stay in place. Returning to your lace rectangles, use your hot glue gun to attach wire-framed ears to the lace fabric. Once one entire ear is glued down, add another layer of hot glue to the remaining exposed wire and add another lace layer. Let dry. Trim around the outline of your wire and rub edges so they *mildly* fray. Lastly - using the twisted ends of each ear, wrap excess wire around the top of your headbands, spacing them about 2-3" from one another.

Bend and curl your ears until they feel just right. Aren't they so cute!? (Use these same steps for the bear ears, but use circular wire-frames instead of bunny shaped)
I cannot wait to wear mine out and about on the few days before Halloween - it's hard for me to not dress up every day in October!

sweet sunday: portland edition
Once upon a time (actually it was about 4 years ago), I made myself a mix tape. I was living in Portland at the time and was super into the beatnik lifestyle. As you can see from my new black hair and beret, not much has changed. Below is the exact playlist (with some additions) I made years ago and I'm still loving it!
I'll be back from Portland tomorrow, but for now, I'm off to play in the Oregon rain. Hope you're all having a lovely weekend! xxoo Chelsea

My name is Crystal, but I go by CAPow, which is an abbreviation of my first initial, middle initial, and the first 3 letters of my last name. I live in Upstate NY with my awesome boyfriend M and our two cats Styles and Miyagi.Visit Crystal on her blog and etsy.I have a full time day job, but my passion lies in creating. I have a blog (windshield diaries) which is a labor of love for me, I'm a photographer, I paint, I draw, I sew, I crochet and any of the above can and will show up in my etsy shop!
I create things because I believe that is what life is about. I can't imagine living a life where I'm not constantly working on something. I'd like to leave behind a little beauty to this world when I'm gone.
Although photography is more of a hobby than a career for me right now, I have dabbled in shooting a few weddings, which I have found equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. It's something that I would love to turn into a career, but have yet to mustered up the courage to take the leap!
