{Tutorial Tuesday: DIY Doggy Bow-Tie}

My lovely pup Munchie, is celebrating her 10th birthday this week!!! Birthday festivities include dressing up as a queen-for-a-day, getting to lick dinner dishes clean, extra special doggy treats, maybe even a bath!! I decided to make her a darling and chic functional doggy bow-tie to show everyone she is special! Follow these easy instructions to make your favorite fuzzy friend a bow-tie of it's own.

Supplies Needed:
a strip of cute fabric{measurements below}
sewing machine or needle and thread
hot glue gun
scissors
measuring tape
6" of thin ribbon {*optional}

Step 1. Measure your pets neck, the size of the collar is best, so the bow-tie will be comfortable, and not too constricting.
Step 2. Cut your fabric to 4" by the size of your pet's collar plus 10"
Step 3. Fold your fabric strip in half, with the top of the fabric touching, so that it measures 2" and sew together. Turn right side out and cut a 6" piece off. This 6" strip will be used as your bow.
Step 4. Sew your collar section strips ends down, in a 2" loop on either end. This will make space for your pet's collar. If you rather not have a space, use snaps or velcro and overlap the edges.
Step 5. Take your 6" piece of fabric and fold the edges in, to meet in the middle. Sew together while bunching the center with your fingers, creating the bow-effect.
Step 6. Now that you have your collar and your bow, all you need is a center strip to complete your bow. Using a 1" piece of fabric, fold in half and sew. Sew ends together to make a loop and slide onto your bow.
Step 7. Using your hot glue gun, attach bow to your collar in the center.
Step 8. Slide 6" of thin ribbon through your end loops and tie.
TA-DA!!! tres cute little bow-tie for any fuzzy friend!

Munchie is quite the ham, and terrible to get a photo of, but this is a cute shot of her in it!
Hope you all enjoy!! Remember that Please & Thank You is tomorrow and to ask your questions on my formspring. I'll also be posting a hair tutorial later today and a Trying New Things post tomorrow as well. Have a lovely Tuesday everyone!
