Supplies Needed:
1 Hardback Book
Exacto Knife
Lining ( a handkerchief, painters tape or velvet!!! )
Straightedge
Pen
Step 1.
Open your book and use your pen and straightedge to create the size and shape of your jewelry box.
Step 2.
Using your exacto knife and straightedge, cut down through the pages of your hardback book until you've reached the desired depth.
Step 3.
Add your lining. Using hot glue to place your handkerchief or velvet on the inside of your cut-out. If you use painters tape, line the sides then bottom of your cut-out thoroughly. Don't let your lining pucker above the cut out, as it will not allow the book cover to close properly.
This is the perfect place for keeping in a dresser drawer or on a shelf, and private enough to keep people out.
This book also DOUBLES as an indoor planter:
Instead of adding a fabric or tape liner, instead add a small plastic plant liner inside. Place your plant in the center, and fill the remaining cut-out with tightly packed potting soil.
Be creative with the plants you choose as well as the inside cover of your book. These subtle touches will enhance the look and make your attention to detail: ultra-cool!
